The Popular Show Season Four Introduces the Fighters Table

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a diverse cast of personalities, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, evil spirits, and dark forces increasing in influence within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Spoilers for the third episode of the new season follow below.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

Episode 3 ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of characters who will split off from the main group to undertake their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.

The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (played by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

Why Split the Party?

Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.

Characteristics of the Warrior Group

As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem out of place, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the group knows exactly where to head next after a violent initial meeting with the antagonists.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, attacking the rogue, and stealing all the powerful objects to sell off.

Casimir then cleared his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the urban center, with Cyd close behind.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each member has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, seeks retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the region and advises that it is a nasty environment.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to kill Teor and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • However, their position as key figures in the influential clan could help the party access places they normally couldn’t.
  • Additionally, The grateful character swore a eternal obligation to Wicander for his salvation and will now go with him everywhere.

Fugitives

Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city too risky:

  • Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
  • Tyranny and The healer defied House Halovar and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • The target is wanted dead by the clan.

This results in them no alternative but to journey toward the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.

What’s Next?

From episode three’s post-show segment, we discover that the Soldiers table will be absent next week, leaving the other eight participants to assemble the Explorers and Planners parties.

Fans can expect discovering which players will be assigned to which table in the season’s last Overture episode, available to watch on next week.
